Breast Cancer Awareness month
October is officially Breast Cancer Awareness month, which involves thousands of organisations getting together to highlight the importance of breast awareness, education and research.
Breast Cancer Now is a fantastic organisation that aim to get as many people as possible involved in raising awareness and funds to support their life-saving research and support.
The research is focused on four key areas – risk and prevention, early detection and diagnosis, treatment and secondary breast cancer. The organisation has an ambition to ensure by 2050, anyone diagnosed with breast cancer will live. Breast Cancer Now also raises funds to ensure anyone affected has access to the best possible treatment and services, whilst also travelling around the UK and providing information for women to detect the symptoms early on.
This is where the Wear It Pink campaign began. On the 23rd of October every year, people across the UK, from schools to workplaces, wear pink in show of their support and raise funds for the organisation.
